Why Threes?

Planting in groups of three, often referred to as the "rule of three," offers several benefits for your garden or landscape:

Visual Harmony: Grouping plants in threes creates a sense of balance and visual harmony in your garden design. The human eye is naturally drawn to patterns and repetition, and planting in threes provides a cohesive and pleasing arrangement.

Filling Space: Planting in threes helps fill empty spaces in your garden more effectively than planting a single specimen. The clustered arrangement creates a fuller look, making your garden appear lush and well-established.

Variety and Interest: Planting multiple specimens of the same or complementary plants in groups of three adds variety and interest to your garden beds. It allows you to showcase different textures, colors, and heights, creating a dynamic and visually appealing landscape.

Pollination and Wildlife: Clustering plants together encourages pollinators and beneficial insects to visit your garden. Bees, butterflies, and other pollinators are attracted to groups of flowers, increasing the chances of successful pollination and enhancing biodiversity in your garden ecosystem.

Aesthetic Impact: Planting in threes can create focal points or visual accents in your garden design. Whether you're creating a border, accentuating a pathway, or defining a specific area, groups of three plants can draw attention and add interest to your landscape.

Overall, planting in threes is a simple yet effective technique to enhance the beauty and functionality of your garden while promoting balance, biodiversity, and visual appeal.
